Free Economic Zone «Vitebsk» – the Territory of Success

Free Economic Zones of the Republic of Belarus as well as in the whole world are the effective models of territory-economic management and means to make a rapid development of any regions of the country with the help of foreign investments and progressive technologies. Legal and managing foundations of FEZ activity on the territory of Belarus are established by a special legislature of the Republic of Belarus: the Law «On Free Economic Zone», by the Decrees of the President of the Republic of Belarus. FEZ «Vitebsk» was founded on August, the 4th, 1999 for the period of 30 years. The administration of FEZ «Vitebsk» is subordinated to the Government of the Republic of Belarus that guarantees the protection of foreign investors’ rights and interests in ministries, departments and state management bodies of the Republic of Belarus.

At present on the territory of FEZ «Vitebsk» is being realized the capital of many countries, such as: Germany, Poland, the USA, the Czech Republic, Russia, Great Britain, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Belize, Canada and Belarus.

The declared investments amount is considered to be over 100 mil. US Dollars. About 8 thousands people are employed on the enterprises of FEZ «Vitebsk».

There is a positive dynamic on the enterprises of FEZ due to special taxation and customs regimes. Having manufacture in FEZ «Vitebsk» gives the possibility to decrease financial burden for about 30-40 % and in a short period of time to cover the investment projects expenditure. The FEZ «Vitebsk» residents have certain preferences on income and profit taxes, VAT, real estate tax, net payments. While realizing their projects in FEZ «Vitebsk» investors are granted with 100% exemption from customs dues on export of raw materials, machinery and other technical equipment to the territory of the FEZ «Vitebsk» and on import of self-made production. Self-made products of the FEZ «Vitebsk» residents are not subjected to be quotated and licensed for export to Belarus and abroad.

In the Administration there are investment projects, which demand full or partial financial participation of investors: projects on magnesia cement production, building stuff and break made from magnesia cement, dry pectin production. The priority directions of other projects realizations are the following: mechanical equipment engineering, motor-car construction, electronic techniques, electrical appliances production, pharmaceutical and veterinary preparation production, disposable sanitary-hygiene stuff production and toys production.
